If you could land highly desired recruits, engage your workforce to an even higher degree and retain your top talent
without increasing costs, wouldn’t you want to learn how?
The answer is simple: support the love people have for their pets. That’s a clear message from a groundbreaking study
produced by Nationwide® and the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) that reveals:
90% of employees in pet-friendly workplaces:
• Feel highly bonded to their company’s mission
• Are fully engaged with their work
• Are willing to recommend their employer to others
In contrast, less than 65% of employees in non-pet friendly workplaces made the same claims.
In the U.S., more than 75% of employees own pets, compared to 63% of the general population, so adding pet-related
perks, such as pet health insurance, is a no-brainer.
Check out these key findings from the Nationwide/HABRI pet-friendly workplace efectiveness study:
A pet-friendly workplace is defined in the study as one that allows pets in the workplace (regularly or occasionally)
and/or ofers a pet-friendly employee benefit, such as pet health insurance.
“The results of the Nationwide/HABRI study clearly indicate a significantly higher level of employee engagement,
retention, attraction and presenteeism among employees that work in pet-friendly work environments,” said Scott Liles,
president and chief pet insurance ofcer for Nationwide. “In consideration of the discernable cost of employee turnover,
adding pet-friendly benefits, such as pet health insurance, can provide significant savings to a company’s bottom line,”
