Jennifer Gunter studied public administration as an undergraduate with the intention of becoming a
U.S. ambassador. She did become an
ambassador—but for human resources.
An internship sparked her interest in HR,

as a mentor and coach for other HR practitioners
as vice president of the HR Florida State Council,
an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource

her local SHRM chapter, the Human Resources
Association of Palm Beach County, she led a
team of volunteers that increased the chapter’s
membership by 15 percent, to 500 members.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
Listening to music and attending comedy shows.
Music and laughter center me as a person.

would say “Make sure not to take yourself so
seriously that you can’t laugh at a situation.”
